Until Dec. 14, the biggest story of the year in Connecticut might have been Hurricane Sandy and the devastation wrought along the shoreline.
Everything changed on that day, however, when a 20-year-old named Adam Lanza inexplicably entered Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, and shot to death 20 first graders and 6 adults.
It has been a year of bad news, perhaps more so than usual. Gas prices swung up and down, the presidential election got down and dirty, and the economy and the fiscal cliff kept everyone worried as well.
