The National Weather Service forecast is calling for a wintry mix tonight.

By Eileen McNamara

The morning commute could be a slippery one based on the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, which is calling for a "light chance" of rain and snow before 1 a.m. Wednesday.

That chance of precipation will ratchet up to 80-90 percent overnight, with the rain changing to sleet and then snow by morning. Temperatures will fall to a low of 31 and there will a light northeast wind.

Total accumulation isn't supposed to be more than an inch, but the slippery mix could make for a tricky morning drive into work.

Any leftover precipitation tomorrow afternoon is expected to change back to rain as temperatures reach into the upper 30s.

The extended forecast calls for a mix of sun and clouds through Monday, with temperatures in the 30s, and no storms on the horizon.
