A city man who owns a local wine bar and tile supply company was arrested after a domestic incident at his former home, according to Middletown Police.
On Jan. 10 at 9:33 p.m., police were called to the home of Carmelo Bramato, 53, of Watch Hill Drive, after three 911 calls. Police say he was found seated in a white Mercedes in the driveway with a cordless telephone and refused to answer questions.
Bramato is owner of Pacific Marble and Granite and co-owner with his wife and daughter of Esca Restaurant & Wine Bar, both in Middletown.
He smelled strongly of alcohol, police say, and his wife told officers he does not live there but she invited him for dinner. He no longer lives with her after an incident in Berlin on Nov. 5, involving Bramato's mistress and Berlin Police, in which she, her daughter, and son were arrested. He was charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with an emergency call.
Bramato was in court on Jan. 11 and was released on a promise to appear. His next court appearance is Feb. 15.
The wife, son and daughter were charged with burglary, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct in November, according to Berlin Police.
