Middletown police report the following arrests:
Jan. 16
INTERFERING WITH AN OFFICER, AND WITH AN EMERGENCY CALL, THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT — At 2:35 a.m., police were called to Liberty Street about an assault and found Joshua Botelho, 24, of Omo Street fighting with a woman he was grabbing by the arm while the victim held her head, the report says. The woman said she was hanging out with Botelho and when she tried to leave, he kept following her asking for her to return; when she refused, he grabbed her and threw her to the ground three times, punching her in the face. Botelho said she was trying to buy crack cocaine and he was preventing her from doing so but she slapped him so he pushed her down to keep her from hitting him.

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER — At 7:20 p.m., Kirk Dozier, 41, of no certain address was at a home on Loveland Street when police received a call from his ex-girlfriend about an unwanted person after he was knocking on her door asking if she wanted cigarettes, the report says, and she refused to open the door. Immediately after signing his bond form, the report says, Dozier attempted to commit suicide twice so he was brought to Middlesex Hospital. The report says the officer presumed Dozier would not make his arraignment the following morning.

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED, AND IN VIOLATION OF LICENSE CLASSIFICATION — Luis A. Diaz-Flores, 25, of Pleasant Street, Meriden, was driving a Nissan Juke on High Street with only a Puerto Rican identification card.
FAILURE TO CARRY CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE, IMPROPER USE MARKER PLATE, DEFECTIVE MUFFLER, FAILURE TO HAVE STOP LAMPS — Police saw Bret G. Plucinski, 51, of Woodland Heights, Rockfall, driving a car on Washington and Butternut streets with a plate belonging on a Mercedez Benz owned by Central Auto Auction in Meriden, the report says. Police say the muffler was excessively loud and he worked at Central at one time.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT — At 4:32 p.m., police were called to Silver Street on a domestic disturbance in which the caller said his boyfriend, Jaleel M. Allen, 19, of Wolcott Street, Waterbury, had spit on him and choked him, then left on foot, the report says. He was found walking on East Main Street, and “blurted out” to the officer he had spit on the victim but didn’t choke him, the report says. A family violence form was issued, police say.
OPERATION UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, IMPROPER USE MARKER PLATE, OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — At 10:19 a.m., Kelly Randazzo, 41, of Main Street, Portland, was seen driving a Hyundai Santa Fe on Newfield Street and told police she had just purchased the car and hadn’t yet had it registered. The report says, Randazzo was going for ice cream for her sick daughter.

TWO COUNTS SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — At 12:30 p.m., Matthew R. Wilcox, 21, of Grand Street turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.
THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT — At 1:10 p.m., Joshua Hill, 19, of Johnson Street was fighting with another man in front of the St. Vincent de Paul soup kitchen on Main Street, and, the report says, had punched the victim in the head, causing him to fall to the ground, then kicking him in the chest. Hill told officers he had only asked for a cigarette and the victim said he didn’t have any and should “go buy his own.”’

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED — Police saw Michael A. Menegus, 26, of Johnson Street driving on Washington Street while “manipulating a device in his lap.” The report says he denied texting while driving, adding he was plugging his phone into the charger, however, the entire time the officer spoke with him, calls and texts were coming in.
INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — At 6:43 p.m., police saw a Volkswagen driven by Jennifer McCarthy, 26, of Braeburn Lane driving on Westfield Street, who had no license or insurance card with her. McCarthy said she was going to her husband’s grandmother’s house two homes away from where she was stopped, the report indicates. The grandmother verified her identification, police say.
OPERATION UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, IMPROPER USE MARKER PLATE — Jeffrey Given, 51, of Wilcox Drive, Durham, pulled into the Citgo gas station on South Main Street driving a Geo Prizm with a plate belonging to a Honda Civic station wagon, the report says, then walked away from his car toward Warwick Street. Given told the officer the car was not his and his brother had driven it to the gas station, despite the officer seeing him doing it, the report says.
INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — At 8:13 p.m., Jasmine Vargas, 21, of Tavern Circle was driving a Honda Civic on Westfield Street without a front license plate and a headlight out, then could not provide an insurance car, the report says, offering she was “pretty sure” it was insured.

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED — Police saw a Nissan Maxima driven by Samantha P. Richard, 21, of Elm Street, Wallingford, driving on Washington Street. The report says she told police her mother was in the process of transferring the car to her and there were a few more months left on the insurance.
