Middlefield's Tim Boyle was joined by his family, Xavier teammates and coaches and school officials on Wednesday morning as he officially committed to the University of Connecticut on National Signing Day.
The star quarterback for the Falcons passed for nearly 2,500 yards and 24 touchdowns during the 2012 season in leading the team to its third straight state title. He also carried the ball for 295 yards and five TDs.
Boyle, who previously committed to playing at Boston College this fall, chose UConn after the Eagles made a coaching change that resulted in a different style of offense.
Boyle was joined Wednesday by four teammates who also signed letters of intent to play college football. Max Tylki will attend Brown University, Jonah Dorsey will play for Stonehill College, Max Schumann is headed to the University of Chicago and Kris Luster will play at Wesleyan University.
All five players maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, according to John Guerin, director of communications at the private high school in Middletown.
