To the Editor:
It’s been nearly two weeks since Blizzard Nemo walloped our state and Middletown has struggled to dig out from the mess.
Watching our public works crews and emergency responders at work, I’m struck by the political irony of their situation. It seems everyone is a small government conservative until their state is buried under two feet of snow.
As a city resident, I want to thank Middletown’s public service workers for all they’ve done. They’ve had little sleep and little family time, but their dedication cannot be questioned. They’re short on staff and equipment, but they’re getting the job done because they care. They’re public servants, not profiteers.
We could not weather this latest storm, or any future ones, without them. Middletown works because they do.
