Editor's Note: This letter was originally sent to Mayor Dan Drew and copied to all members of the Middletown Planning and Zoning Commission.

Dear Mayor Dan Drew:

I am writing to you as a concerned citizen, parent and homeowner in Middletown, and as a personal acquaintance. Regarding the proposed changes to city zoning regulations that will be the focus of tonight's Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, I wish to voice my strong opposition to the Proposed Zoning Code text amendment to add Section 60.02.41 Mixed Use Development and 44.08.45 Mixed use Development Special Exception, proposed by proponent Acquisition Holdings, LLC.

Many well-reasoned, passionate and sensible arguments in opposition to these zoning changes have been made by a number of thoughtful people who are deeply committed to our community.

I feel that is has been clearly demonstrated that the zoning changes will have detrimental effects to the social networks, physical environment, and neighborhoods of Middletown, while only benefitting a few developers in the short term.

Moreover, it is in my opinion unconscionable that a developer has authored zoning changes that will benefit themselves at the expense of our town and its people.

I urge you to reconsider your support of the proposed zoning changes. I, too, along with others who have supported your leadership, have been disappointed that you've gone on record in support of the zoning changes, and cannot understand what the motivation must be for your approval.

Thank you very much for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Joseph Getter, Middletown
