A 35-year-old city woman was arrested on multiple drug-related charges, including operating a drug factory, after Middletown Police say the June arrest of her mother led them to her.
On Nov. 1, Middletown Police served a search warrant at the home of Jeanette Miranda, 35, of Hillside Drive as part of an ongoing investigation that began in June. A search warrant was executed at a home on East Main Street, the residence of Jenny Lopez, 55.
Lopez is the mother of Miranda, according to the report. During the execution of the June warrant, more than three ounces of marijuana was seized with children present.
According to the report, Miranda heard detectives outside of her apartment and was seen grabbing a bag of marijuana and trying to run out of her bedroom with it. Detectives stopped her as she ran out of her bedroom toward the bathroom with a bag of marijuana in one hand and a handful of packaging materials in the other, the report says.
While taking Miranda into custody, she refused to show her hands and tucked her arms under her body so detectives could not handcuff her, the report says. After a brief struggle, detectives took her into custody. Her 13-year-old daughter, who was home, was later released to a family member.
A total of 3.26 ounces of marijuana was seized, police indicate, along with two functional scales, a large amount of packaging materials, cash, and a bottle of numerous prescription narcotics.
The Department of Children and Families was contacted as the 13-year-old was present while numerous narcotic violations were observed and that investigation is still ongoing.
Miranda was arrested and held on a $75,000 bond for: possession of marijuana and with intent to sell, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of narcotics and with intent to sell and with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia, risk of injury to a minor, interfering with a search warrant, and operating a drug factory.
Miranda also had an outstanding warrant for sixth-degree larceny and was held on an additional $1,000 bond for the warrant.
