The 42-state Powerball lottery has reached a new record — $425 million — which means that people who normally don't play the lottery are rushing out to buy tickets.
In the last drawing on Saturday, according to CNN.com, no one matched the numbers for the 15th consecutive time.
The largest Powerball prize handed out so far has been $365 million to a group of eight workers at a meat-packing plant in Nebraska, CNN reported.
Millions of customers are expected to line up to buy the $2 tickets, which come with odds of winning of 1 in 175 million. The next drawing will be Wednesday.
